Welcome to the team, George!

Based in Ilminster, Somerset, George will be working closely with farmers across Devon, Dorset, Somerset and the Quantocks, providing practical, evidence-based agronomy advice tailored to the needs of each individual farming business.

Although George isn’t from a farming family, agriculture has always been a huge part of his life.

“I’ve been around farms and farming for as long as I can remember,” says George. “I started out milking cows on a local farm before moving into an independent dairy hygiene business, where I worked closely with farmers on everything from animal health medicines and livestock vaccines to seed, fertiliser and feed.”

That broad agricultural background gave George a strong understanding of both livestock and arable businesses before he made the move into agronomy.

He went on to become a grain buyer and trainee agronomist, achieving his FACTS and BASIS qualifications in 2021 and 2022, while also completing an Open University degree in Environmental Science.

Today, that blend of practical farming experience, technical knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for agriculture is something he’ll be bringing to growers across the South West.

Supporting farmers across the South West

George joins ProCam at an exciting time as we continue to invest in our agronomy services and support more farming businesses across the region.

Working alongside our experienced South West team, he’ll be helping farmers make informed, profitable decisions across a wide range of cropping systems, while continuing to develop his own agronomy area.

“I’ve worked with both arable and livestock farmers throughout my career, so I understand the challenges they’re facing,” George explains. “Every farm is different, and I enjoy finding practical solutions that help businesses improve performance while remaining sustainable.”

With maize playing such an important role across the South West, George is particularly keen to continue exploring new ways to improve crop establishment, yield and quality.

“The South West is a real stronghold for maize,” he says. “With increasingly unpredictable weather, finding ways to improve crop performance and resilience is something I’m really passionate about.”

For George, joining ProCam was about more than just the role.

“What really attracted me was the people,” he says. “ProCam has a close-knit team with a real focus on supporting farmers, and that’s something that really appealed to me. The business shares the same values I do, and I’m looking forward to building strong relationships with growers across the area.”
