PROCAM 4CAST ARABLE FARMING CONFERENCES ORGANISED

A series of arable farmer conferences focusing on reducing costs/tonne of production, opportunities for combinable crops and predictions for disease pressure in 2008, is being organised by the ProCam Group during February and March.
Conferences organised by Group companies JD Rutherford on Tuesday 12th Feb at Ardingly, East Sussex and ProCam Ag. at Newmarket, Suffolk on Wednesday 27th Feb, will feature ProCam’s Dr David Ellerton and Nick Myers, Mark Berrisford-Smith of HSBC, Jane Whiteman of the Environment Agency and Nuffield scholar Mike Giffin.
ProCam technical director David Ellerton will focus on the effects of last year’s unusual weather and disease conditions including the 2007 rust epidemic and implications for 2008 disease control strategies. Control options for fusarium in the light of last season’s high mycotoxin levels and possible reasons for the sclerotinia outbreak in oilseed rape will also be examined.
Agronomist Nick Myers will announce the full 4cast data analysis for 2007 with particular emphasis on benchmarks and gross margin improvements achieved for crops and look forward to prospects for harvest 2008. He will also be considering NPK inputs: planning, buying and alternatives sources, such as compost.
